Similar in appearance to Habanero peppers, Ghost chilies have a distinctive rough, rugged skin. Their flavor and aroma is smoky and sweet - if you can stand the heat!
Also known as the Naga Jolokia and Bih Jolokia, it has been measured at over 1,000,000 Scoville units - compared to Tabasco Sauce at 2,500 - 5,000 Scoville units.
That's one hot chili pepper!
Ghost Chilies are very, very, very hot! Use them sparingly. Add a little to fresh salsa, sauces, chili - anywhere you want to start a 12 alarm fire!
Dried Ghost Chilies
One of the World's Hottest Chilies! Use of gloves when preparing these chilies is strongly recommended. Handle with extreme care - do not get into the eyes, nose, lips or sensitive areas. Flush with water to relieve symptoms.
First, rinse with warm water. Soak in hot water for 10 minutes to rehydrate. Once rehydrated, dice or puree and add to a recipe.
