Description

Mayan Sea Salt has been the subject of numerous books and scholarly papers written about the trade routes of the ancient Mayans. Some have estimated that 30 tons of sea salt per day had to be transported by canoe and on human backs into the interior to supply the Mayan people. Recently discovered archaeology sites attest to the vastness of the ancient enterprise.

Ancient salt works were established on both sides of Mesoamerica in what is now Belize, Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, and in Guatemala, where Maya Natural Sea Salt is now harvested.

The Mayans needed the salt for their health, and now you can use it to add a distinctively savory, but not overly "salty" finish to your most demanding recipes. It's moist texture - and method of harvest - is much like that of Fleur de Sel. Maya Natural Sea Salt is naturally-filtered, hand-harvested, and unaltered - straight from the Pacific Ocean to your table.

Learn what picky chefs already know:
Not all salts are created equal.

If you don't compromise on any of the other ingredients in your best recipes, why skimp on the salt?

Maya Natural Sea Salt is packaged in 12 oz bags, each wrapped with a colorful textile band woven by the Guatemalan people, descendants of the ancient Maya. Maya Natural Sea Salts is 100% minority owned.

Ingredients:
This product contains only hand-harvested natural sea salt. It contains no additives, including anti-caking agents or iodine.

Warm Shrimp with Yuzu-Avocado Oil Vinaigrette
Avocado oil has a lot going for it. It's a flavorful oil, excellent for use in salads and vinaigrettes, and its beautiful deep green color lends itself to dramatic presentations. And if that isn't enough, both avocado oil and shrimp are high in "good" HDL cholesterol.

But this dish isn't just good for you - it's absolutely delicious!

Parsnips have a sweet, earthy flavor that actually gets better if they've been left in the ground until the first frost. This simple recipe lets their natural goodness shine through. A little good quality vanilla acts as a flavor "potentiator", subtly boosting the flavor of the parsnips while remaining inconspicuously in the background.
