Made in Newton, Iowa by Maytag Dairy Farms, production was first begun in the 1940’s by Fred Maytag II (of dishwasher fame) when he heard about a new process for making blue cheese from pasteurized milk.
Maytag Bleu is creamy in texture - not too strong, not too mild – and is cave-ripened, for up to two months in specially designed caves.
