Pan-seared Steak with Herbes de Provence
This method of cooking steak is not the same as grilling, but tastes delicious nonetheless.
Ingredients:
2 New York strip steaks, 6 8 oz each
2 Tbsp unsalted butter
2 Tbsp herbes de provence
freshly ground black pepper
Fleur de Sel
Preparation:
Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed skillet. Meanwhile, generously sprinkle the steaks with the Herbes de Provence, pepper and a little salt. When the butter begins to brown slightly, turn up the heat to medium-high and place the steaks in the skillet. Turn after 2 - 3 minutes and brown on the other side. Cook an additional 2 - 3 minutes, or until done to taste. Place on serving plates and finish with additional Fleur de Sel to tast.
